Join us as we venture to the Antelope Valley in search of nature's beauty...bountiful wildflowers and some of the biggest cats on Earth!  First, a visit to the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve - a protected California State Natural Reserve established to protect California's most consistent poppy-bearing land.  Each spring the Reserve comes alive with a variety of wildflowers creating a mosaic of color and fragrance.  In addition to poppies, we may see owl's clover, lupine, goldfield, cream cups, and coreopsis, to name a few.  The intensity and duration of the wildflower bloom varies from year to year and blooms are never certain so we'll keep our fingers crossed as we cannot control Mother Nature!  Enjoy an included boxed lunch picnic and time at leisure in the Reserve to explore the Interpretive Center and nature trails.  This afternoon enjoy a docent-guided tour of the Feline Conservation Center, better known as "The Cat House" - dedicated to the protection and preservation of the world's most endangered felines.  This breeding zoo and research facility is home to 18 different species:  tiger, leopard, jaguar, bobcat, snow leopard, fishing cat, serval, ocelot, Eurasian lynx, Canada lynx and others.  You'll see many of these cats and learn about the efforts made here to reserve these species.
