Microsoft Excel 2016: Level 1
This class introduces the essential features and functionality of Microsoft Excel. Discover different shortcuts, customizing your toolbar buttons, Ribbon navigation, modifying cells, formatting cells, using basic functions, and writing basic formulas.  Students will also build links, create templates, and charting & graphing data.  Please bring a USB drive to save your work and practice take-home exercises.
 
Class Outline
  • Review the commands on the Ribbon
  • Adding Commands to the Quick Access Toolbar
  • Tell Me (Help) Feature
  • What are rows, columns, how to hide, group, and delete rows and columns
  • How to Merge Cells, expanding rows and columns, adding underlines vs adding borders
  • Coloring Cells, Coloring Font, changing font sizes, changing font type, formatting cells, etc
  • Practice copy, Paste options, Cut, and Format Painter, creating hyperlinks
  • Use basic formulas while understanding Order of Operations, and using most commonly used functions (Sum, Average, Min, Max, Count)
  • New Flash Fill feature in Excel
  • Students will be creating their own timesheet template
  • Inserting and working with Tables, Shapes, working with SmartArt, creating Charts
  • Adding Header & Footer and best Print Layout Option
  • Sorting and filtering data
  • Using Conditional Formatting
  • Creating a List (drop-down menu)
  • Adding Charts and Graphs
  • Absolute References
  • Protecting your worksheet and workbook
